Mondrian Package

In 2017 it will be 100 years ago that Theo van Doesburg established a journal called De Stijl to showcase the artistic philosophy of the Dutch art movement 'De Stijl". World-famous artists like Piet Mondrian, Gerrit Rietveld and Bart van der Leck were members of the avant-garde movement. The biggest Mondrian and De Stijl collection will be presented in the masterpiece of the architect who has been an enormous source of inspiration for many De Stijl artists: Berlage's Gemeentemuseum Den Haag.

"Beautiful hotel"
This hotel is simply beautiful. It's design is appealing to the eye. The beauty of the architecture and the interior is combined with great comfort. Dreams are not far away when lying down on the comfortable bed. The room was equipped with a beautiful modern bathroom with bath. The location is extremely convenient: the hotel is just a few steps away from the central train station. The room I head was extremely quiet. I could only hear the humming of the airco. The temperature of the room was perfect. The staff at the reception is friendly and helpful. I can definitely recommend this hotel.

"Haag a very good time"
The Hampshire Hotel -Babylon Den Haag in around a 5 minute walk to the main square next to Parliament. I stayed in the hotel for 4 days and can only praise the staff and the hotel. An example would be when I had been out filming and arrived back 15 minutes after breakfast had been closed. No problem for the busy waitress, who rustled me up coffee and croissants. Room was clean, but heating was difficult to get right. Tony's Tips No parking at the hotel Very good free WIFI Ask for an upper room as the hotel is on a main road. UBER is cheap but not many drivers. Around €100 in a cab from Schiphol airport

"Perfect Location"
While on travel for work I stayed a week with Hampshire Hotel. It was perfectly located across for the park, a 5 minute walk to city center and next to the central train. The rooms are well furnished and a great size (I'm American and some European hotels are extremely cramped). The staff is helpful and very accommodating. Parking isn't the easiest as the hotel relies on a shared deck but with the train station adjacent I would take the train next time.

"An Enjoyable Stay"
We and a colleague stayed for one night at the Hampshire Hotel Babylon during a business trip to Den Haag. We chose the hotel primarily for it's location as we were arriving from Amsterdam by train. A short (30 minute) journey direct from Schipol Airport brought us to Den Haag Centraal. Upon exiting the station we found ourselves outside the New Babylon complex, but there was no signage for the hotel. It took us a few minutes to find the entrance, and our colleague, who arrived later that evening also struggled to locate the entrance. When we mentioned this to the staff at reception on checkout we were told that the government only permits one sign to be erected for the hotel, and we didn't even see that one! Check in was friendly, quick and efficient, as was checkout on departure. Our rooms (superior doubles) were well appointed and spacious. We stay in hotels frequently and I have to say that the huge bed (super king?) in our room was quite possibly the best we have ever slept in and made for a wonderful night's sleep on a busy trip. Breakfast was available at the hotel for €18.50, but we chose to have fruit and coffee in the New Babylon complex so cannot comment on the what the buffet offered. Unusually for me I had forgotten to pack a European electrical adaptor, but staff came swiftly to the rescue when asked, and provided a loan until we checked out, which was much appreciated. We will have reason to visit Den Haag again in the future and would have no hesitation in booking or recommending the Hampshire Hotel Babylon. Thank you for a very pleasant stay.

The Hague

Museums

In the Mauritshuis you can admire an exceptional collection of Dutch masters, with the pinnacle being Johannes Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring. The world-famous Gemeentemuseum Den Haag is also absolutely worth a visit, particularly because it has the largest collection of Mondriaans in the world. View the largest painting in the Netherlands at Panorama Mesdag. Perhaps a break from art in favour of modern technology? Indulge as much looking, listening and experimenting as you like in the Museon science museum. Enjoy films about people, nature and science on an enormous domed screen in the Omniversum, a fantastic experience for young and old.

Historic buildings

From Hampshire Hotel – Babylon The Hague it’s easy to walk to the Noordeinde Palace, the Koninklijke Schouwburg and the Binnenhof. The visitor centre in the Binnenhof organises tours through the Ridderzaal, the Upper Chamber and the Lower Chamber. These tours are interesting for anyone with an interest in Dutch politics.
